Some comparisons between Croatian and European standards for actions on structures

Abstract

Croatian standards from the HRN ENV 1991 series and the standard HRN ENV 1998-1-1, are compared with the European standards from the EN 1991 series and the standard EN 1998-1. These Croatian standards are the adopted European prestandards with application documents. However, some parts of the European standards differ from the corresponding prestandards, particularly with respect to wind action, action of traffic on road bridges, and earthquake action. It is stated in conclusion that the transition period is questionable, and that caution must be exercised in the use of Croatian standards and in their comparison with the corresponding European standards.
